Doesn't Martina Hingis Know That Crack Is Whack?
Does anyone else think that the whole Martina Hingis cocaine thing is suss? Not the fact that she tested positive, but that she is backing down and retiring without a fight even though she claims that she didn't do anything? I would have thought that she would have been desperate to clear her name considering her image was built on being so squeaky clean. Obviously she won everything she did with talent, because cocaine is not a talent enhancing drug, we all know that, so no one is questioning her talent, more her integrity. If it was me and I honestly had not taken the drugs, then I would be fighting the charge tooth and nail to clear my name and reputation, not retiring so that she would not have to face a drawn out battle to prove her innocence. If the charge is "so horrendous, so monstrous" like she claimed, then why is she not fighting it?
I admired this woman for a long time, but to see something like this happen when she doesn't even put up a fight gives me no choice but to come to the conclusion that she is lying and did take the drugs and now that she has been caught is too gutless to admit it. She took the easy way out and lost so much respect for doing it. The old Martina that people looked up to and admired would not have stood for anything that threatened the blemish her image and would have fought all the way to have her name cleared and to reassure everyone of her innocence, not backed down so quickly like a common coward. All I have to say is "Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out".
